How it works

Photograph it (INVEDEX Scans)
One item, a whole shelf, a barcode, a packing label — or the receipt the delivery came in on. In a few seconds you get back what it is, any SKU, barcode, batch or processor codes printed on it, the date, the price if one is shown, and the net weight. Creased labels, sideways labels, freezer labels.
Put it on the scale
If the weight was not printed, or you would rather trust your own scale, type it. Each package keeps its own weight for as long as it exists — not an average, not a nominal size.
Check it before it counts
Nothing is written and nothing is sent anywhere until you have looked at it and said yes. A reading the service is unsure about says so rather than guessing quietly.
Send it to your store
The confirmed count goes to Wix, Square or Shopify. Or to a file in a folder, or to a web address, if you run something of your own.
The difference
Built for things that weigh differently every time.
Most inventory software counts units. That works until a unit is a piece of meat, a wheel of cheese, a fillet, a bag of coffee filled by hand — where two of the same thing are not the same thing at all.
Every package, individually
1.390 lb and 1.415 lb are two different packages, and the app knows which one you sold. Not a count of four, not an average of 1.4.
Priced either way
Sell by the pound or at a flat price per package. Fill in whichever one you actually use and the app works with that.
Weight bands where they help
Stores that cannot hold a decimal weight get sensible ranges instead, so a customer still knows roughly what they are buying.

Your ledger is yours. Literally.
It runs on your computer
The app is a folder you unzip and a window you open. Your inventory, your photographs and your keys sit in your own account folder — not pooled with anyone else's, not on a server of ours.
Store keys never leave
The keys that let it write to your shop stay on the machine you typed them into. They are never synced between your own devices and never held by us — losing one costs you five minutes, not your shop.
Three things ever leave
A photograph you send to be read, a count you confirm and push to your store, and a backup you point at a folder of your own choosing. That is the whole list.
Where counts go
It sends. It does not sell.
INVEDEX ONE is not a marketplace and never will be. It never takes a payment, never holds a cart and never stands between you and your customer. Your shop stays your shop; this keeps its numbers straight.

Counts whole packages, and reads your orders back so the app knows what actually sold.
Square
Holds a decimal weight, so a catch-weight cut can go up priced by the pound. Per location.
Shopify
Counts whole packages, per location, and reads orders back.
Running something else? It will also write the same file into a folder on your computer, or post it to a web address your own software listens on. Adding a new destination does not change anything you see on screen.

An INVEDEX Scan is one photograph read by the service. It is the only part that costs anything to run, so it is the only part that is metered. Counting, weighing, exporting, syncing and pushing to your store are not.

Not sure how much you would use it? Pay for the scans you take and nothing else. There is no monthly fee, so a month you do not count costs you nothing at all — and nothing is bought in advance to go to waste.
INVEDEX Scans roll for 30 days. Whatever you do not use rolls into the next cycle and lasts 30 days from the end of it, capped at one month’s worth — so the most you can ever hold is double your plan. Counting in bursts is normal; paying for the quiet weeks twice is not.
Your plan’s scans are the limit. To carry on past them you switch extra scans on, and they are charged at your plan’s rate — the one shown on its card above. Leave them off and scanning pauses until the cycle turns; you are never billed for a scan you did not switch on. Either way you are notified as you approach the limit, and changing plan takes effect straight away.
Pay as you go works differently. There is no allowance to run out of and nothing to switch on: every scan is 15¢, and a month you do not use it costs nothing. Nothing rolls over either, because nothing was bought in advance. Past 167 scans in a month, Light costs less than paying by the scan and gives you more — and the app tells you so on the day it happens, rather than leaving you to find it on a bill.
You can cap what you spend. Set a monthly ceiling when you subscribe, or any time afterwards in the app, and scanning pauses once it is reached rather than running past it — your bill never exceeds the number you chose. Everything else in the app carries on working, and you can raise the cap or remove it from wherever you happen to be standing. It applies to extra scans on any plan, not only to pay as you go.
Your data is always yours. INVEDEX Scans, adding inventory in the app, and syncing to your web store (Square, Wix or Shopify) will pause until you continue service.

Questions
The ones worth asking.
Do I need to be technical to run this?
No. You install Node.js once by clicking the big green button on
its website, then you double-click a launcher and the app opens in your browser.
There is no terminal to type into and no file to edit.
Does it work without an internet connection?
Mostly. Counting, weighing, selling, searching, exporting and
backing up all run on your own machine and need nothing. An INVEDEX Scan needs
the connection, because that is the part that happens on our service.
An offline phone build is on the roadmap.
What happens to my inventory if I stop paying?
Nothing. It is a file on your computer and it stays exactly where
it is. You can keep opening the app, keep selling, keep exporting and keep
backing up. What pauses is new work: running scans, adding stock, importing
and pushing to your store.
Do you hold my Wix, Square or Shopify keys?
No, and that is deliberate. Those keys are permission to rewrite a
live shop. They stay on the machine you typed them into, they are not synced
between your own devices, and we never see them.
Can I use it on more than one device?
Yes. Devices share one ledger through a folder you own — a synced
cloud folder, for instance — and what travels is encrypted. Which particular
package left is the whole point of the app, so two devices selling at once
resolve to the right package rather than just the right number.
My products do not vary in weight. Is this still for me?
Yes. Variable weight is what it does that others do not, but a
plain count of plain units is an ordinary thing for it to hold. If nothing you
sell is weighed, you simply never see that part.
When does it come out?
The closed beta comes first, with a limited number of businesses
across different kinds of stock and different stores. Apply below and you will
